MIGHTY IN ME!
By Jide Lawal
Galatians 2 (KJ2000)
8 (For he that worked effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
Galatians 2 (Julia E. Smith)
8 (For he having been energetic in Peter for the mission of circumcision, was energetic also in me for the nations:)
There is only one Holy Spirit. The Bible speaks of many different spirits that could be described as holy, but generally, when we speak about the Holy Spirit, we refer to a unique member of the Godhead. One attribute that has always been associated with him is power.
While writing to the Galatians, Paul testifies that the same Holy Spirit who had worked effectually in Peter was “mighty in me” also. He had been energetic in Peter in his ministry to the Jews, and He was energetic in Paul in his ministry to the Gentiles.
The idea of ministry without power is strange to Christianity.
Luke 24 (KJ2000)
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry you in the city of Jerusalem, until you are endued with power from on high.
Acts 1 (KJ2000)
8 But you shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The Holy Spirit is meant to guide us, help us, comfort us, etc. but He’s not in us to help us navigate powerlessly through life. Bless God, a thousand times no! We received power when we received Him. We are empowered to testify of a risen Jesus with power!
Acts 4 (KJ2000)
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
1 Corinthians 2 (KJ2000)
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
The Spirit on the inside of you isn’t a wimp. He’s strong! He’s mighty! He was mighty in Peter and mighty in Paul! He didn’t become weak when He made His home in you! The Greater One lives in you!
Let Him rise big in you! Let Him work effectually in you! Learn to yield to the One behind all the acts of power described in the Old and the New Testaments! He wants to find expression in you. He wants to do the works of Jesus and greater works through you!
Continue in grace!
